Dark Times & The Necessity Of Faith

By Evan Sanders

When things are looking pretty negative in life, it can be truly hard to see the light. Fear, doubt, depression, uneasiness all creep in and the result doesn't look to good. Frequently we are so afraid to even feel these thoughts and emotions that we try to avoid them altogether, only finding that they come back time upon time. What is the way out? Is there a way out?

Through.

We must go through these things.

For most of us, we must grip onto our endless faith.

There is a particular sort of magic and grace in being capable of getting close to your feelings - even the ones that hurt - without being consumed by them. For example, it is like making an attempt to put your hand near a hot pan to feel the heat but at the very same time trying not to burn yourself. These negative and painful feelings, while they test our soul intensely can become a source to our best healing however. They can take us places where we really need to bring our love and teach us about what requires some attention. Give yourself the opportunity to basically experience these thoughts and feelings deeply while not trying to run from them and change them and see just how much you can learn. It is a challenging experiene to say the least, but it's an extremely rewarding experience in itself.

Can this experience be really distressing at times? Absolutely. But when we start to tap into the darker energies of life, we give ourselves an opportunity to compassionately cope with the stuff we may not have given much attention to during the past. These past events and gruesome feelings will come knocking at our door consistently, and we are able to continue to pretend as if they don't exist, or we will be able to kindly allow them in and commence the conversation that has traditionally been required.

These times will test your faith...but isn't that the real point of having true faith when it comes down to it? We all need to have something that we deeply know we will go to no matter any challenge that comes our way. So run to your loving faith when times get dark...you will always have a light.
