If he is doing foolish things, his member might consider his actions as not a professional. Instead of doing foolish things focus on giving the group more ideas about what is needed and what is not.

By researching, one may acquire new and fresh ideas. Nowadays generations of young blood create technologies which may help the person to surf just to be able to gather informative techniques.
